What halal means in our kitchen
Halal is the word that comes up most often when people call us, and fairly so: if you choose a restaurant for this reason, you want a straight answer, not a slogan.
So here is the full answer, without the marketing: what halal means, what we actually do, and what you can ask us at any time.

What halal means
Halal means permitted. Applied to meat, it means the animal was slaughtered according to Islamic rules, by a certified supplier, and that the meat never touches forbidden products at any point in preparation.
It is not only a question of origin: it is a chain you can trace. If you cannot say where the meat came from, you cannot call it halal.
What that means in this kitchen
In practice it comes down to three decisions we made and do not change:
- We buy from suppliers with halal certification, with paperwork on every delivery
- We store the meat separately from everything else, on its own shelf
- We use dedicated utensils on the grill, which never touch other products
The question about the fryer
People who come to us for this reason almost always ask about the frying oil. We use vegetable oil and change it often. Nothing of pork origin goes anywhere near our fryer, and the chips, the samosas and the chicken all share the same vegetable oil.
Changing the oil often is not only a rules question: old oil gives a heavy taste and leaves the food greasy. It is the first sign of a badly kept fryer.
Just ask
If you have a question about a particular dish, ask at the counter or call +351 920 157 462. We answer straight. If we ever cannot guarantee where something came from, we say so instead of making it up.
